Satisfying relationships require effort, much like plants need nurturing to flourish. Couples therapy provides partners with guidance from a therapist as they work to address and improve their relational concerns.

Couples therapy helps partners have healthier interactions by identifying what’s contributing to their damaging communication and conflict patterns, better understand each other’s perspectives, and learn skills to strengthen their bond. Couples therapy also provides couples with skills to repair past hurts and betrayals, and to prevent further harm. 

While couples therapy is the most effective the earlier a couple seeks it out when struggling with an issue, it can be valuable at any stage. Couples therapy can even be beneficial for helping partners explore whether ending their relationship is best.
